History
Block-Aid was established as a drain cleaning company in Kellas, Angus in 1973. The owner and Managing Director, Dick Fraser, explains that its history goes back much further than that. “The original family partnership, Smith & Fraser was set up by my grandfather in 1928. The business specialised in land drainage and the installation of septic tanks. I acquired that company in 1988 from my father and added waste disposal to our drain cleaning and drain maintenance service”
The Family Business Invests & Expands
Over the years Block-Aid has made significant investments in plant and equipment. The company’s amenities now include high pressure water jetting, CCTV surveys, electronic drain location, gully emptying and cure-in-place pipe lining (CIPP). Block-Aid is first and foremost a family business. It will remain so, now that Dick Fraser’s sons Robert and Lewis have taken up roles within the business.
